Muzeum Motory & Pedály

In 2020, 160 motorcycles, bicycles with auxiliary engines and mopeds from 1922 to the present are on display.

The Motors & Pedals Museum is a specialized museum of motorcycles, bicycles with auxiliary engines and mopeds. Since 2018, it has become part of the beautiful surroundings of the Nové Hrady Castle near Litomyšl, where it replaced the former cycling museum in a baroque granary.

Part of a big estate

Here, for the first time, a collection that began to be created half a century ago, and which has never been presented in the Czech Republic or in neighboring countries, is on display. Part of it was on display from 2015 to 2017 in the Motorcycle Museum at Kámen Castle. The Motors and Pedals Museum documents the historical development of the cheapest two-wheeled motorized vehicles from 1922 to the present and is significantly focused on Czech manufacturers. The continuously restored collection, which is constantly being added to the museum's exhibition, includes exhibits made in Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, Hungary, the GDR, the USA, India, China and the USSR (Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia). The number of museum exhibits in 2020 has already exceeded 160 pieces. There are currently 32 motorcycles, bicycles with an auxiliary engine and mopeds of Czechoslovak, Czech and Slovak production in the museum, with more being prepared.

The Motors & Pedals Museum is a museum that pays attention to the authenticity of exhibits, restored using conservation methods only if possible. For real museums of historical technology, the most valuable exhibits are those that are original not only in terms of all parts, but also with preserved original surfaces.
