Museo Morbidelli

Writing the history of this museum is equivalent to telling the story of a life spent for engines and motorcycles, that of Giancarlo Morbidelli, to whom we owe the paternity of the collection.

This collection is moved to the Benelli Museum, Officine Benelli, located Viale Goffredo Mameli, 22, 61100 Pesaro PU, Italy.

It is not easy to define this man: collector of historic motorcycles, manufacturer of GP bikes, creator and manufacturer of multifunctional engines for motorcycles? Perhaps this Marchigiano is all this together, but what is certain is that he was so skilled as to excel in any activity he dedicated himself to and the confirmation of his great skills and his passion for two wheels, is the realization of the museum, which it has earned the title of the most beautiful museum of historic motorcycles in Europe, from the expert Augusto Farneti.

The collection, housed in its old factory and inaugurated in 2000, allows you to retrace the technical evolution of the motorcycle, as is possible in few other structures in the world. But let's see in detail what elements make this museum one of the first in the world.

First of all, the way in which the collection is arranged allows the visitor a multiple and easy approach thanks to the rationality with which the motorcycles have been arranged, which together with the “classification” by age of the vehicles contributes to making the visit pleasant. Furthermore, everything is designed to work perfectly, light, space, technical description of the means.

Observation of the historic specimens is facilitated both by the raised position and by the large space that distances the platforms and by a special mirror film on the floors, which also allows you to look at the lower part.

The route is introduced by a sign showing the indications relating to the period of production of the motorcycles on display. We start from the early years of the last century with a two-cylinder motorcycle from the Swiss Moto Reve company from 1906 and a two-cylinder Stucchi from 1915, which are only a small taste, because there are more than 250 models on which to rest your eyes.

The part of the museum that best contains all the passion and dedication of its owner for motorcycling, is the one in which the motorcycles that participated in the World Championship are collected, from the quiet 50 cm3 to the powerful 500 cm3, which summarize the development of this small house, which has also managed to impose itself on the Japanese competition.
